1. We are only responsible for our own data...
We
do not have any responsibility for the fact that if it gets leaked, we
get blamed. If your information has been read by somebody else, it's
their problem, not ours.
2. There is no place for people who leak or share data.
You
should know that leaking or sharing private data is against the law and
punishable. You may think that this doesn't apply to you, but I assure
you that it does!
3. Don't trust anybody.
If someone says they would keep your privacy safe, don't believe them. Nobody knows what they are doing. Trust nobody.
4....and everyone is accountable for his/her actions.
This
includes both parties involved; the person who leaks and shares data,
and the party who is being targeted. The first person should take
responsibility for their action, and the second person should be able to
defend themselves.
5. No matter how small or big the leak might seem, it can still make a difference.
The
consequences of a leak could be huge. Even though the amount of data
may be really small, the information can be enough to ruin the
reputation of individuals, companies, or even countries. A person's
identity can be stolen or their reputation ruined.
6. Be vigilant.
You
need to protect yourself at all time. Always lock your devices
(smartphones), avoid carrying your phone in public places, use different
passwords for everything, change your account passwords regularly, etc.
7. It's safer than ever before.
It
is true that it is much easier to steal your information now, but it is
also much harder to steal your money, credit card, or bank details.
These days, hackers need to find ways to hack your device in order to
get access to your accounts.
